Changelog

Layout

• A new page, Settings › Lists › Layout. A live preview at the top uses an article from your library, preferably a favorite, and updates as you change the settings
• Thumbnails: None, Medium or Large. Medium is the familiar square beside the text. Large is a wide image across the row, the same shape for every article. None leaves headlines and text only
• Thumbnail position: a Medium thumbnail on the left or on the right of the text, a Large one above the title or below the summary
• Titles can take up to four lines and summaries up to three, or no summary at all
• The thumbnail size can also be set for an account or a single feed, in their own settings under Lists

Search

• Tap the magnifying glass in the article list's bottom bar and type. Search matches titles, summaries, authors and sources, ignoring case and accents
• It searches the list you have open: a feed, a folder, All articles or Today. The full text of the articles is not searched
• Open an article from the results and the keyboard goes away. Back on the list, your search is still there
• On iPad and Mac, the magnifying glass sits in the bottom bar too, and the search field opens at the top of the list

Buttons

• On iPhone, Left button and Right button in Settings › Lists choose the buttons at each end of the filter bar
• On the article list: Mark all as read, Search or None. On the feeds list: Mark all as read or None
• Mark all as read stays as you had set it, and the new Search button takes the other end
• Choosing a button that is already at the other end swaps the two
• Round glass buttons now respond consistently, expanding slightly when pressed
• The filter bar shows its icons alone when its labels no longer fit, with a larger text size for example

Also

• Feed Info shows the site's icon even when Title icon is set to None
• On iPad, the header of the open list follows a change of Title icon right away
• In Feed Settings, Reset now says whether it restores the account's setting or the app's, then shows the value that applies

Reading

• Find in Article: open an article's menu and choose Find in Article, then type a word. A Safari-style search bar highlights every match, shows the match count and lets you move between results
• On iPad and Mac, ⌘F opens the search for the article on screen from any column, ⌘G and ⇧⌘G move to the next and previous match, and the Edit menu lists them

Lists

• Title icon: the icon next to a feed's name at the top of its article list and in Feed Info can be Monochrome (as before), Original (the site's own icon, in its colors) or None. Set it once in Settings › Lists, then for an account or a single feed in their own settings. The FAQ shows the three side by side: “Don't like a feed's icon? Change it”
• Article thumbnails have a thin edge and a soft shadow, so an image close to the page's color keeps a visible border
• Sharper feed icons in Feed Info
• Smoother scrolling in article lists on iPhone when the filter bar hides or comes back

Trending Stories

• Fixed blank space between stories while scrolling, and the list scrolls more smoothly

Also

• In Account Settings and Feed Settings, Reset to global setting now works in one tap

iCloud

• The first time you open 1.8.2, Feedler updates your iCloud account on its own: a backup on the device first, then the update, then one sync. It needs a connection. Offline, it waits for the next launch
• iCloud now carries your feeds and folders, what you have read or starred, and the saved text of your favorites. The articles themselves no longer go through iCloud: each device downloads them from the sites when it syncs. A feed added on another device appears right away, and its articles arrive with this device's next sync. Sync on launch, on by default in Settings › Synchronization, syncs every time you open Feedler. The account also takes less of your iCloud storage
• Favorites set on one device reach your other devices right away with their saved text, even for older articles
• Adding, renaming, moving or deleting a feed or a folder of the iCloud account needs iCloud to be reachable, so every device keeps the same list. Reading and starring still work offline, and are sent when the connection is back
• If two of your feeds carry the same article, each copy has its own read state and its own star
• One iCloud account, the one of the Apple Account signed in on the device
• Resync from iCloud rereads everything the account keeps in iCloud, then syncs and tells you when it is done. Long-press the iCloud account. On iPad and Mac, it is in the account menu at the top of the sidebar. It can also run once a day or once a week, in Manage Account › Maintenance. It is off by default
• If Feedler's iCloud data is deleted in the Settings app, Feedler pauses the sync and asks before uploading your library again
• Improved iCloud sync reliability in some specific situations

Backup

• The iCloud account now has a backup on the device, in Manage Account › Backup: your own copy with Back Up Now, an automatic copy once a day at most that never replaces yours, and the copy made before this update, kept
• Restoring a backup adds the feeds and favorites that are missing, with their saved text, and tells you how many first. Nothing is deleted, and what comes back is sent to iCloud, so your other devices get it too
• The backup stays on the device. Deleting Feedler also deletes it

Feeds & reading

• On Local RSS and iCloud accounts, a feed you remove and add again comes back with everything its site still publishes, unread
• Feeds that a server sends as a web page now work
• Regenerating an article's cache also refreshes its image
• Trending Stories explains when stories appear while there is nothing to show yet
• Article titles show their accents and apostrophes correctly in Trending Stories, Listen to Article, AI Summary, Read Later and when shared by email

Also

• Fixed a case where the Accounts screen could stop responding

Reliability

• Fixed a crash at launch on the Mac
• At launch, Feedler now waits until it can read your library instead of acting on it too early. A library it cannot open shows a short message, with a way to retry or to contact me
• Contact Feedler, shown when the library cannot be opened, asks before attaching a diagnostic report and tells you exactly what it holds

iCloud

• Improved iCloud sync reliability in some specific situations: a feed removed on one device, read and starred states changed on two devices, an iCloud account removed and added again
• Removing an iCloud RSS account on one device leaves your iCloud data in place: your other devices keep everything, and an account added again gets it all back
• A feed removed on one device takes its read and starred states with it everywhere, so a feed added again starts fresh
• When another device removes all or most of the feeds of your iCloud account at once, Feedler asks before removing them on this device too
• The iCloud settings backup reads older and newer backups tolerantly, keeps what a device does not know, and restores per-feed settings more reliably on a new device

Also

• Reader View: small inline SVG icons show at text size and in your theme's colours, and a site colour the reader cannot resolve takes your theme's accent
• Feeds list: the Mark all as read confirmation shows its icon in red like its title

Reliability

• Fixed a crash at launch on the iOS 27.2 beta, reported from TestFlight. The whole family of that crash is closed: Feedler now reads its database differently in every place that could trigger it, and a check refuses any new one before a build ships
• A feed removed on your service (Feedbin, FreshRSS and the others) while you were reading it: the next sync closes the article and brings you back to the feed list instead of leaving an empty screen
• An empty feed that will not refresh no longer stays on the loading placeholder

Free version and subscription

• One rule for the free version: one local RSS account keeps refreshing, up to five feeds. An iCloud account, a web service or a second local account pauses as a whole, and its articles stay readable. The Sync Paused notice opens the subscription screen
• Feeds paused by the free version show their badge as soon as the sync pauses them
• On a new device or after an iCloud restore, a subscriber's feeds no longer appear paused on the first launch
• The end of a subscription or of the trial is picked up as soon as you return to the app, at the expiry time, and before every sync. No relaunch needed
• Several fixes make the subscription screens more reliable and consistent

Also

• Add Feed says when a site's feed is blocked by Cloudflare instead of showing nothing
• On the Mac, the App Icon setting is shown only where the system can change the icon

iPad & large iPhones

• Feedler's window is now a single layout that adapts: sidebar, list and article when there is room, the iPhone layout when there is not. It keeps your place when you resize a window or use Split View, Slide Over or Stage Manager
• On an iPhone Pro Max, Plus or Air, landscape shows the list next to the article. Back in portrait, you are on the page you were reading
• Article full screen on iPad: one button to enter, one tap to leave. It now survives a trip through the app switcher
• The article's toolbar and its floating pill move with the column when it resizes
• With a hardware keyboard: J and K for the next and previous article, R to sync
• This layout also prepares the iPhone Duo: closed, the iPhone layout; open, list and article side by side

Picking up where you left off

• After a relaunch, each window reopens on its account, feed and article, with no animation replayed
• The reading position comes back to the exact line, whatever the screen or text size. It also survives a crash or a force quit
• Previous and next work right after a relaunch, including inside a trending story

Article transitions

• Moving between articles now looks the same everywhere (tap, chevron or pull past the end) on iPhone, iPad and Mac: the current page leaves and the next one slides in as soon as it is ready
• Pulling past the end of an article goes straight into the transition instead of bouncing back first
• Transitions cope better with fast taps, pulls and interruptions
• Large image galleries now fold into a stack. Tap it to browse them full screen. Settings › Article › Stack Galleries changes the rule

iOS 27

• Clearer glass controls, and softer blurs under the article's top controls and behind the pinned date headers
• On iPad, the article's toolbar minimizes with the system as you scroll

iOS 18 & iPadOS 18

• Fixed a crash when leaving the app on iPad
• Bars, sidebar and icons follow your theme
• On iPad in portrait, and on a large iPhone in landscape, the list stays beside the article

Also

• iCloud: articles you read up to 45 days ago stay read on your other devices, whatever each device keeps locally
• Trending Stories splits a busy news week into one story per development, picks the headline that carries the news, and groups German, Spanish and other languages better
• Feeds that answer a browser with a web page (FeedPress feeds, for example) now load
• With the automatic appearance, an article no longer opens white inside a dark window
• A sync no longer re-reads, run after run, the pages that carry no image. The Activity Log also times the image downloads on their own row

iCloud

• Read state, favorites, new feeds and folder changes made on one device reach your other devices within seconds, while the app is open. The notification path between devices was silently broken and has been repaired
• A feed added on another device arrives with its icon and its recent articles, and gets the same caching as at launch, so it opens offline like the others
• An iCloud account running without ∞ Feedler Unlimited now says so at the top of the feed list and in the Activity Log; subscribing resumes syncing at once

Sync

• The status line names each step, Generating icons, Fetching thumbnails, Caching, in order, and holds the result long enough to read
• Tap a sync's Duration in the Activity Log to see how long each step took and how many items it handled
• Feed counts and icons appear as soon as articles land, instead of after the whole run
• A site that stops answering is paused for a growing while instead of slowing every sync. Long-press the feed for Retry at Next Sync
• Thumbnails that fail to download are skipped from then on, and loaded only when a list shows them
• Prefetch thumbnails: Always, Wi-Fi only or Never, globally, per account or per feed. Until now every sync saved the thumbnail of every new article so lists stay complete offline. On a large account that is hundreds of downloads, most of them for articles you will never open. Never or Wi-Fi only also pauses the search for missing thumbnails in the same cases. Feeds & lists

• The feeds list refreshes only the rows that changed while a sync runs, on iPhone, iPad and Mac, so scrolling stays smooth as articles land
• Under Unread and Favorites, a feed that drops to zero leaves the list as soon as its sync ends
• Sites served with a blank placeholder image no longer end up with an empty icon
• On iPad and Mac, switching feeds while an article is open animates the “Select an article” placeholder in and out like the article itself

Import & news

• OPML import no longer flags feeds that only accept RSS readers as unreachable
• Feedler News items now open on the right release notes

Stability

• Feedler no longer crashes at launch when its library can't be opened: it sets the library aside, starts fresh and tells you

Feedler Insights

• A new entry at the root of Settings: facts from your syncs, feeds and settings, each with one suggestion and a button to the right place
• Cards for feeds that no longer exist, keep refusing readers or went quiet, for full caching you rarely read, for thumbnails stretching your syncs, for your reading hours, your theme, your cache budget, for prefetch you may not need, and more
• Swipe a card to see it again in two weeks, long-press to never see it again, one button to reset
• “Review feeds” lists the feeds a card is about, by account, and applies the change at once
• Three rotating “Did you know?” tips, and a one-tap way to follow Feedler news right from the page
• Everything is computed on your device when you open the screen; nothing runs in the background

Reading

• Switching articles is one animation everywhere: tap another article in the list on iPad and Mac, or go to the next or previous one on iPhone. The current article slides away, the next slides in, and a small “Fetching article” indicator bridges the gap when it still has to load
• The first article you open on iPad and Mac arrives the same way
• Filter bar (Favorites / Unread / All): easier to tap, and you can now press and slide to pick a filter

Sync

• Find missing thumbnails: on by default, off in one toggle, globally, per account or per feed. When a feed ships no image, Feedler looks one up on the article page, which is the longest part of a big account's sync
• Feed Info shows how many of a feed's latest articles came with an image, and how many Feedler found itself
• Thumbnail lookups run on more lanes in parallel, so big accounts sync faster even with the setting on
• Sync issues tell “Blocked by site” (sites whose protection refuses feed readers) apart from a real server error, with the HTTP status
• Feeds dating their articles “2026-08-31 08:35:31” parse again
• Articles you read while a sync is running stay read

Settings & app

• A new “Light & Dark” app icon: the Feedler mark on a light ground that turns black in dark appearance
• Prefetch articles no longer locks itself and no longer changes Default View on its own; the caching rows simply follow it
• Every article keeps the reason its cache last failed (network, refused by the site, or empty page), so Insights can tell you which sites won't hand over their pages

Parser customization

• Long-press any image while reading to hide it, by exact URL (that image disappears from every article of the feed, whatever size the site serves it at) or by CSS class (perfect for promo slots that change picture but keep their styling)
• A new Hidden images list in Parser Customization keeps them all in one place, easy to remove
• Rules now apply themselves: change or remove any rule and already-cached articles re-parse automatically: no cache clearing, no re-downloading
• Sturdier rules: one malformed CSS entry no longer disables the others, bare words just work (promo finds .promo), and comma-separated selectors become separate rules
• Hide content now catches lists, figures, quotes and tables too

Sync & feeds

• OPML files now open straight in Feedler, from Mail, Files or AirDrop, choose "Open in Feedler" and the import preview appears (more on OPML in the FAQ)
• Feeds in the earliest RSS dialects now work, and a single oddly-formatted date no longer rejects a whole feed: several long-running news and science sites benefit
• Feeds that only answer over http can finally be added
• Reddit feeds are more dependable: older URL forms are recognized and legacy addresses are corrected automatically
• Stopping a sync now asks for confirmation, and the Activity Log shows each sync's duration, with cancelled syncs telling you exactly where they stopped
• Mark all as read gives its little haptic buzz from every surface

• New: Stack Galleries: galleries fold into a single elegant pile of cards with a photo counter; tap the pile to browse every photo fullscreen. You choose when it kicks in (from 3 images, from 6, or never) in Settings › Article, and switching applies instantly to existing articles
• Tap any gallery image to open a fullscreen carousel: swipe from photo to photo, pinch to zoom, and land right back where you were in the article
• Portrait screenshots display as a sensible centered card instead of stretching across the page

Animations

• Switching feeds sweeps the new article list in with a short elastic drift and a real bounce: the lists crossfade into each other and the feed header rides the same spring
• Changing filters uses the same gentle reveal, with the header staying perfectly still
• The rolling wave when a list settles was re-tuned frame by frame: one smooth motion down the whole column
• Mark all as read and hop to the next feed: the header animates along instead of snapping
• Pull down at the top of an article for a gentle elastic stretch: header, image and text ease apart and settle back with a native bounce
• The feeds list now updates quietly while you read: no more rows visibly collapsing when you come back to it

Reading

• Scrolling long articles is far smoother on iPhone and iPad: images no longer nudge the page around as they load, and scrolling starts instantly, never waiting on a gesture
• iPad: the content no longer jumps when the toolbar reappears at the end of an article
• Reaching the end of an article can no longer get stuck advancing to the same article

Sync & accounts

• Feedbin: renaming a feed as you add it now syncs the name to the server: it shows everywhere, not just in Feedler
• Feedbin: articles you had already read in another app are no longer skipped on import
• A freshly added feed stays visible in the list while it completes its first sync
• The "Slow Connection" prompt only appears when the connection is genuinely slow: no more false alarms on fast networks because a website was having a bad day

A faster, smarter sync, especially on slow networks

• Sync now saves article text first and fetches images afterwards, so your articles are ready to read much sooner
• Images keep downloading quietly in the background, with a progress indicator and a one-tap cancel
• New image download setting: Never, Smart or Always: globally, per account or per feed. Smart watches your connection and checks with you before starting a heavy download on a slow network
• A sync can now be cancelled at any time
• Smarter disk usage: the cache limit now applies to article content only, and thumbnails get their own separate cap: the oldest ones are cleaned up automatically and simply reload from the network when you're online

A much richer Activity Log

• Every sync now records exactly what it did: new articles, articles cached, and images downloaded with their total size and duration
• The detail page breaks the images down feed by feed, so you can see which feeds fill your cache
• Images skipped on a slow network are counted separately from failures, so you always know why something isn't cached yet
• Cancelled syncs are now marked as such in the history, and unreachable self-hosted servers leave a trace too

• Sync All Accounts: refresh every account in one tap, from the account hub or a long press on an account card
• Automatic refresh now also works while the app is open, not just in the background
• Restoring on a new device brings every account back, with content filling in automatically

Reading & navigation

Activity Log

• Settings gains an Activity Log: a timeline of every sync (background included), feeds added or removed, OPML imports and account errors

NewsBlur sign-in

Listen to Article

Feeds & discovery

• YouTube playlists can now be added: paste the playlist page or its share link and Feedler finds the feed; channel links resolve faster too
• YouTube video descriptions now appear in article lists
• Old http:// feed addresses are upgraded automatically, and OPML imports check every feed's reachability with a status badge before you confirm

Sync

• Fixed a crash loop that could require reinstalling the app when a feed appeared twice: the app now repairs itself at launch
• Removed all default import and cleanup limits: new feeds import their full history, and nothing is deleted or marked as read unless you explicitly choose a limit ("No limit" is the new default)
• Accounts with very large unread backlogs now sync correctly and much faster
• The sync progress bar now always completes smoothly to 100% and never jumps backwards

New settings

• Preferred Summary Language: choose whether AI summaries follow the article's language or your device's
• Mark as Read on Open (on by default) and Mark as Read on Scroll (off by default)

Reading & feeds

• Feed suggestions are now verified before being shown: no more picking a suggestion only to hit "No feed found at this URL", and suggestion titles are cleaner
• Smoother article toolbar animations and improved video handling in articles
• Favorites are now fully protected from cache cleanup and stay readable offline
• Sharper feed icons in more cases

Adding feeds

• Discovery now probes the exact address you paste, path included, so more sites and pages resolve to their real feed on the first try, including awkward ones like Reddit URLs
• Fixed adding Squarespace sites, which used to be rejected
• Adding a feed is noticeably faster, and a new "Import OPML" shortcut lives directly in the + menu

Reddit

• Multi-subreddit accounts improved: feeds are named r/<sub> by default, articles read cleanly in Reader View, and icons are reliable
• Reddit strictly rate-limits its RSS feeds (roughly one request per minute per device) since June 2026. Feedler now spaces out and automatically retries Reddit requests, so Reddit feeds refresh more slowly and mostly in the background: a Reddit restriction, not a bug
