Reddit is ending its RSS feeds
Reddit has announced that it will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13, 2026. According to Reddit, RSS has become a common way to scrape the site on a large scale, and there will be no replacement for people who use RSS to follow communities. The change comes from Reddit and applies to every RSS reader, not just Feedler. Here is what it means for the subreddits you follow in Feedler, and what you can do now.
Until November 13, 2026
Nothing changes. Your Reddit feeds keep updating as usual, and you can still add a subreddit.
After November 13, 2026
- Your Reddit feeds stop updating: Feedler can no longer get new posts from Reddit.
- The posts you already have stay: you can still read them, and your favorites keep their saved text.
- A warning triangle appears: after three syncs in a row that fail, the feed shows a warning triangle in your feed list. Nothing is wrong with your account or with Feedler: Reddit no longer answers.
- Adding a subreddit no longer works: typing r/apple or a reddit.com address will not find a feed anymore.
You can keep a Reddit feed for as long as you want to keep its posts. Deleting a feed also deletes its posts, favorites included, so only delete it once you no longer need them.
This applies to every type of account in Feedler. Local RSS and iCloud accounts get Reddit's feeds directly. A sync service such as Feedbin or FreshRSS gets them on its own servers, where the same change applies, so each service will say what it does.
Is there a replacement?
Not for reading. Reddit says that people who use RSS for communities they do not moderate will have no replacement. Moderators who rely on RSS for alerts can move them to Reddit's own tools.
Reddit is also moving outside apps to its own developer platform. I'm watching what it will offer. If a reliable way to follow subreddits in Feedler appears, one that respects Reddit's rules, I'll write about it here.
What you can do now
- Star the posts you want to keep: Feedler never removes favorites when it clears old read articles.
- Follow the sources directly: many subreddits mostly share links to articles. The sites behind those links often have their own feeds. Add them in Feedler, or find them in Feeds Discover.
